    About the brand

The beginning of Lowe Alpine dates back to 1967, when three brothers from Colorado, mountaineers and travelers Jeff, Greg, and Mike Lowe, traveled across the United States developing new climbing methods. Their long journey produced two results: first, pioneering the alpine style of mountaineering, and second, the decision that they would no longer settle for the low-quality gear available at the time. To meet their demanding needs, they founded the Lowe Alpine company, with one clear goal: to develop backpacks that would satisfy the needs of every adventurer, not restrict movement, and could be fully trusted.

The brothers brought revolutionary ideas to the world of backpacks that are now a common standard. For example, they invented the first backpack with an internal frame and compression straps. Soon, however, their interest was not limited to backpacks, as they began to develop ice axes, crampons, protection, and other technical gear. Over time, the company worked its way up to the top ranks of the most respected global manufacturers of backpacks and accessories. Lowe Alpine has never stopped evolving since its foundation. The innovative spirit with which the brothers founded it has survived to this day.

Lowe Alpine places a high emphasis on the durability, functionality, and comfort of its products. Anything unnecessary that can be damaged or fail is immediately eliminated during development. The volume of the backpacks is measured using the precise, internationally recommended ASTM method: with the help of plastic balls, which are then poured into a calibrated measuring cylinder. For sewing, three-ply nylon threads are used, which are very strong and durable. Every important seam is triple-stitched: double stitching is covered with protective tape and re-stitched. The main stress points are then back-tacked five, or even up to ten times.

The bottom part of large backpacks, which is usually the most stressed and exposed to mechanical damage, is doubled. All fabrics are carefully tested, from abrasion resistance, and tear strength, to color fastness tests. Each material is also checked for high demands on water resistance.

Buckles must have an optimal angle of adjustment so that it is not too difficult to move the straps, and at the same time, so they do not loosen on their own. The buckles and clips are then tested to destruction, with the aim of finding the ideal balance between the hardness and flexibility of the material. Zippers must be light, durable, long-lasting, and easy to operate, which is why high-quality YKK zippers are used.

The shoulder straps must be firm and at the same time flexible, which is why expensive and very high-quality polyethylene and EVA foams are used. The hip belts of the largest backpacks use a combination of open and closed-cell foam. While the closed cells maintain shape and firm support, the layer of open cells takes care of softness and flexibility. The result of the entire process is a high-quality backpack that you can truly rely on.
