About the brand
The Austrian family company doppler, founded in 1946 in the town of Braunau am Inn, produces high-quality umbrellas, parasols, raincoats, cushions, and garden furniture, whose domain is quality craftsmanship with a focus on detail, functionality, and innovation.
Umbrellas from the doppler brand are more than just protection from the rain. They are reliable and technically sophisticated helpers in bad weather, which have their own style and are suitable for every occasion. Their appearance and durability have been shaped for seven decades by honest work, experience, enthusiasm, and the determination to independently develop products that will faithfully and for a long time serve customers every day throughout the seasons. And these values connect the owners of the company with their employees, business partners, and customers all over the world even today.
The company, which is currently run by the fourth generation of the family of the founder Ernst Doppler, operates in more than 40 countries worldwide and is an internationally recognized enterprise with a number of subsidiaries in Europe and Asia (in the Czech Republic since 1991). Doppler employs a total of 360 people, 200 of whom are in the main plant in Austria, which has been considered the largest umbrella factory in Europe since its reconstruction in 1999. Another significant step in the company's history occurred in 2005, when, in cooperation with the Swiss partner Strotz, the Knirps brand was purchased, which now belongs to the group together with the brands derby and doppler Manufaktur.
Doppler also thinks about sustainability and climate protection. According to the company's philosophy "dopplerstandard," only quality components and _materials with certification_ (TÜV, Ökotex, REACH, or FSC) are used in production. The products undergo demanding quality testing – the durability of the umbrella structure is tested in a wind tunnel, and the fabric's resistance to fading is also checked. As part of an effort to save resources and minimize waste production, umbrellas with an extended warranty are designed so that individual parts can be replaced or repaired. The company is also working to eliminate plastic packaging materials and prefers to use energy from renewable sources in its production.
The initiative to restore balance to our environment is also supported by the Nature collection, which was launched in the spring of 2022. For the production of Nature umbrellas, handles made of wood from sustainably managed forests (FSC certification), fabrics made from recycled materials (rPET), and PFC-free impregnation are used.
