About the brand
Behind the creation of the CabinZero brand is the extraordinary story of a determined man and travel lover, Neil Varden. This story began back in 1993, when Neil, after his studies in the UK, embarked on his first six-week journey through India with a large backpack with an external frame. For his next trip to India six months later, he got a new backpack with an internal frame, but it fell apart after six weeks. Neil then decided that for his travels, he needed a backpack that would be smaller (with a maximum volume of 35 liters), more durable, and with lockable zippers. With such a backpack, which he could always have with him on board any means of transport, he undertook his third trip to India. And lo and behold, he managed to fit everything he needed for a several-month journey into it.
After this expedition, he found a job in a British corporation, but after a few years, he fell ill from stress and decided to start working on his own projects instead. During his subsequent travels, he discovered that one of the most popular guidebooks for Bangkok and Chiang Mai was not sold in the United Kingdom, so he arranged for its distribution, which pushed him into the travel market. He continued to travel extensively and realized that the new development in air transport, in the form of strictly defined dimensions for cabin luggage and the simultaneous charging for checked baggage, was changing the entire market. And when he was looking for a backpack that would meet his demanding requirements, he found that there was no such backpack on the market. This was a challenge for Neil, and he decided to design and start producing the backpack of his dreams.
Thus, in 2014, the production of cheerful CabinZero cabin backpacks was launched. Neil himself tests every new type of his luggage, whose main asset is durability and a host of subtle, but all the more practical, features, including high-quality materials, lockable zippers, and a special tracking system, thanks to which long-lost luggage can be returned to you.
The fundamental essence of these cabin backpacks is their durability and high quality of craftsmanship of the individual materials. All this is intended to ensure safety and security on travels. The backpacks undergo quality controls at production sites in Vietnam and China, in all stages of production, because quality is the defining feature of this luggage. They are designed to last their owners for at least ten or twenty-five years, for which the company provides a warranty (the extended warranty is available to all new backpack owners who "like" the CabinZero Facebook page). All materials also meet the criteria of all European regulatory tests, thus being subject to the highest standards, such as the EU REACH regulation on reducing the impact of production on human health and the environment.
CabinZero backpacks are produced in compliance with the principles of a socially responsible company, which cares about good working conditions in all links of the production chain. The basic principle of the company is the idea that happy employees are the foundation of good business. Neil Varden personally oversees the conditions in the factories where the backpacks are sewn, which are also involved in networks of factories fighting against the exploitation of personnel. In short, CabinZero does not use any sweatshops for its production, which will please anyone who is interested in the impact of production on society and the environment.
Since 2015, CabinZero also wants to support charitable projects in developing countries through the support of sustainable tourism or travel. Educational programs for local residents are also planned. Therefore, the creation of special limited-edition series of backpacks is expected, the proceeds from their sale will go to charitable purposes.
And what does CabinZero actually mean? It is an abbreviation for the brand's motto: "Cabin Sized = Zero Hassles."
