About the brand
The Osprey brand was founded in 1974 in Santa Cruz, California, by a young entrepreneur named Mike Pfotenhauer. In his youth, Mike was an avid hiker in his home state of Oregon. He and his brothers and father needed quality equipment for their treks. His interest in backpacks grew with age, and with his mother's help, he even learned to sew them. At the age of 16, he created his first backpack. Mike first opened a shop in the front of his rented house. In 1987, Osprey began selling backpacks to wholesalers, and Mike delegated the sewing to seven or eight employees while he focused on design.
Today, Osprey owns many manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, where the main production is concentrated, and where the company's founder also relocated to be closer to the manufacturing process and ensure the desired quality. Osprey's range mainly consists of backpacks of various sizes and color combinations. They focus on outdoor, hiking, and cycling backpacks. Osprey backpacks are not only functional but also eco-friendly. The manufacturer guarantees high durability, and you won't find any PVC or BPA in them, as they strive to ensure the most environmentally friendly production possible.
Osprey backpacks are unique for their range of features, for example, the Custom Molding System, a heat-moldable hipbelt for increased comfort when wearing the backpack.
