Deuter Back Systems

Deuter back systems have long been among the most sophisticated available. Every person is unique, and every outdoor activity brings specific challenges – whether it's a demanding climb with a heavy load, cycling, ski touring, or climbing. Thanks to continuous development, Deuter designs backpacks that are not only extremely durable but, above all, distribute weight evenly across the back and minimize sweating thanks to excellent ventilation.

Currently, Deuter divides its innovative back systems into 8 main categories, each tailored to specific requirements. In the following list, you will learn the specifics of each one.

Deuter Aircomfort Back System1. Deuter Aircomfort System

This system is a legend in terms of maximum breathability and is ideal for hiking in warmer weather or for those who tend to sweat more.

  1. Maximum ventilation: The key element is a firm mesh that creates a gap between the backpack and the wearer's back. Warm air can thus escape freely in three directions.

  2. Light and flexible frame: Stable load distribution is ensured by a lightweight frame made of flexible spring steel, which keeps the mesh constantly tensioned.

  3. Main advantages: Stabilization and even weight distribution significantly relieve the back when covering longer distances. Proven effective back ventilation reduces circulatory strain, saving your valuable energy.

Typical use: Futura, AC Lite, Zugspitze series.

Deuter Aircontact Back System2. Deuter Aircontact System

Designed for heavier loads and multi-day treks. It ensures that even a fully loaded backpack feels like a part of your body.

  1. Energy-saving comfort: The precise ergonomics of the back system bring the backpack's center of gravity as close to the body as possible, which makes carrying easier and minimizes loss of balance.

  2. Active ventilation: Good ventilation is guaranteed thanks to channels between the padding. With every movement, a "pump effect" works to push air through the breathable 3D mesh.

  3. Main advantages: By distributing the load weight evenly (primarily to the hips), you protect your spine from excessive strain. Excellent ventilation in such a massive system is a huge bonus for overall comfort.

Typical use: Aircontact series (Core, X, Ultra).

Deuter Airstripes Back System3. Deuter Airstripes System

A system developed specifically for cyclists and dynamic movement in the city. It holds firmly on your back but won't let you drown in your own sweat.

  1. Secure fit: The aerodynamic ergonomics of the back padding and carrying system keep the backpack firmly in place even during sudden movements and jumps.

  2. Effective airflow: Two contoured foam profiles with ventilation channels are covered with highly breathable 3D mesh. The contact area with the back is minimized.

  3. Main advantages: The compact fit provides stability, so the backpack doesn't sway in challenging terrain. Thanks to the reduced contact area, air can circulate freely over approximately 80% of the back surface.

Typical use: Cycling backpacks (Trans Alpine, Bike I) and urban backpacks.

Deuter Alpine Back System4. Deuter Alpine System

As the name suggests, this system is at home in the mountains. Developed for climbers, ski mountaineers, and high-altitude hikers.

  1. Compact fit: The ergonomics of the back padding hug the body. The backpack sits tight and low, which is key for maintaining the center of gravity while climbing.

  2. Durable ventilation: Two flexible padding strips adapt to the anatomy of the back. Channels between them ensure reliable air circulation.

  3. Main advantages: A firm and secure fit makes it easier to maintain balance even in the most demanding and exposed terrain and allows for fully controlled movements without restriction.

Typical use: Guide, Freerider, Gravity series.

Deuter Lite Back System5. Deuter Lite System

A system for those who count every gram and prefer moving fast and light – whether running, hiking, or on quick ascents.

  1. Reduced weight: The use of lightweight construction and special materials keeps the total weight of the backpack to an absolute minimum.

  2. Close fit: The system's ergonomics hug the body closely and blend with it.

  3. Main advantages: Low weight reduces strain on the shoulders and back, while the firm and stable fit gives you maximum freedom for unrestricted and dynamic movement.

Typical use: Speed Lite series.

Deuter Liteair Back System6. Deuter Liteair System

The next step in the evolution of lightweight backpacks. It combines extremely low weight with a surprisingly comfortable back panel.

  1. Optimized structure: An extremely lightweight back panel with an innovative "skeleton" that holds its shape without adding weight.

  2. Balanced load distribution: A flat but reinforced structure combined with a snug-fitting back panel ensures optimal weight distribution.

  3. Main advantages: The ultralight construction significantly relieves the shoulders. The back system is also very flexible and pliable, offering perfect flexibility and maximum range of body movement.

Typical use: Lite Pro series

Deuter Litesnow Back System7. Deuter Litesnow System

A winter specialist. A carrying system designed to withstand snow and frost and keep your back dry.

  1. Snow-repellent materials: The special shape of the back padding and the use of specific smooth materials prevent snow from sticking and accumulating on the back.

  2. Low weight: Despite the winter adaptation, the system remains very light thanks to modern construction and lightweight materials.

  3. Main advantages: Because snow does not stick to the back system, it does not melt due to body heat, preventing clothing from getting wet. The result is all-day dryness and comfort even in deep powder.

Typical use: Selected backpacks for winter sports and freeride.

Deuter Contact Back System8. Deuter Contact System

A classic, versatile, and very comfortable back system ideal for everyday use, school backpacks, or travel luggage.

  1. Back-friendly: The contact padding is ergonomically shaped to hug the back as comfortably as possible without pressure points.

  2. Tight fit: The entire surface of the padding adheres to the body, keeping the center of gravity close to the spine.

  3. Main advantages: The combination of comfortable back padding, ergonomic straps, and a compact fit helps to optimally and evenly distribute daily loads and maximize comfort when carrying textbooks, a laptop, or work equipment.

Typical use: Urban backpacks (Giga, StepOut), school backpacks, travel bags.
