Reading has a lot in common with traveling. Both activities broaden our horizons and provide a unique opportunity to look beyond the ordinary. And what about combining them? That is simply a promise of maximum pleasure.

The weather, which invites you to crawl under a blanket with a book, dream, and plan (perhaps one of your next trips), will likely not leave us for a few more weeks. Moments that are pleasant to spend with a good book can often be found even while traveling. We have selected several book tips for you, which will surely make the hearts of travel lovers flutter. Whether you decide to treat yourself or gift your loved ones, we wish you a lucky hand in choosing and, subsequently, pleasant reading.

Travel Bible

Travel Bible

A book that every traveler should know, just like the web portal of the same name. Especially beginners who are still only dreaming of big expeditions and lack the courage to take that proverbial first step. As the authors themselves say – absolutely anyone can travel.

In the Travel Bible, you will learn a lot of valuable advice from experienced travelers on how to travel on a budget, how to make a decent living on the road, and perhaps even start a career as a professional traveler. It will especially please those who do not enjoy all-inclusive tours with a travel agency or have already had enough of them and have now decided to explore the world on their own. The Travel Bible will be a practical guide and an inexhaustible source of inspiration for you.

Ladislav Zibura: Never Walking in Armenia and Georgia Again

Prince Ládík, as the author jokingly calls himself, is undoubtedly an inspiring personality. At an age when many of us are just spreading our wings, he has already explored many places where we would not only be afraid to go, but might also struggle to find reasons why we would actually want to visit them. He walked most of them on foot, with a minimal budget and a maximum ability to invite himself into the kitchens of his not-always-entirely-willing hosts.

Ladislav describes his experiences in the style of diary entries. His travelogues are full of interesting facts, "behind-the-scenes" information he managed to find out about the locals, and more or less funny incidents, which he presents in his typical, slightly self-deprecating style.

We recommend it as a pleasant relaxation, also available as an audiobook.

Zikmund and Hanzelka with a Tatra Around the World

Zikmund and Hanzelka with a Tatra Around the World

Set off on a journey with legends. Zikmund and Hanzelka, an inseparable pair of travelers, drove around the world in an equally legendary car at a time when few could even imagine it. These remarkable gentlemen will guide you through their journey full of adventure, bold dreams, and friendship using hundreds of authentic photographs and stories.

The book Zikmund and Hanzelka with a Tatra Around the World will thrill not only those who remember the era but will also serve as inspiration for slightly younger generations. Children can also draw from it – getting an idea of how everything worked in times long past can significantly broaden their horizons. :-)

Anyone can make instant soup. However, few want to eat it for more than two days in a row. And it is precisely the inspiration on how to eat in a balanced and tasty way in non-standard conditions, such as a high-altitude hike, that you will find in Petra Pospěchová's book titled Outdoor Cookbook.

In addition to valuable tips for beginners (for example, how to dry some ingredients or store them economically), the author will guide you through creating a balanced menu and a list of pots and utensils you cannot do without. Then it is time for the recipes themselves. These are divided into sections according to the difficulty of the hike – so families with children as well as seasoned mountaineers who love multi-day treks will find something for themselves. You can look forward to all kinds of porridges and legume mixtures, but also wild boar goulash or noodles with dried salmon.

Eat, Pray, Love

book Eat, Pray, Love

Even though women will probably reach for this book first, it would undoubtedly enrich and inspire male readers as well. The plot takes place in the name of the thousand-times-proven mantra "Discover the world and you will find yourself", the validity of which is simply universal.

Elizabeth Gilbert describes the story of a young ambitious American woman who feels somewhat lost in the modern world, as well as within herself. She therefore decides to set off on a year-long pilgrimage around the world. Her journey is thorny, but the goal is clear: to find balance.

We won't reveal whether she actually succeeds. However, from our own experience, we can say that Elizabeth's steps will at least inspire you and make you think about your own life pace and desired harmony (or its possible absence).

For gloomy February evenings, you can also choose the film version starring Julia Roberts.

You couldn't have missed this perfectly magical book for young and old, published by Host, in bookstores. This illustrated atlas of the world is truly well done. Even if you probably buy the book primarily for your little ones, you will likely not be able to tear yourself away from it either.

On large pages full of color, over four thousand pictures will pop out at you, illustrating what is typical for a given country. The illustrations beautifully capture not only cities, rivers, mountains, animals, and plants, but also significant personalities, historical events, or national dishes. Precisely crafted details will once again remind you of the enchanting diversity of the world and return you to your childhood years, when everything around us seemed so incredibly fascinating.
