When Georges Salomon graduated from university in 1947, ski lifts were gradually emerging in the surrounding mountain villages. Georges then disregarded his father's wish for him to become a teacher, instead desiring to plunge into the family business. It started with the production of bevelled ski edges, continued with the development of various types of bindings, until in 1979 Georges Salomon introduced the first ski boot with the option to fasten the heel into the binding. The iconic orange boot was first launched on the French market, but the following year it conquered the whole world.
