Traveling with hand luggage will never be the same. Starting November 2018, the popular airline Ryanair is changing the number and dimensions of bags you can take on board.
New Ryanair ticket prices will only include one small piece of hand luggage. This refers to a small backpack or bag with dimensions of 40 x 20 x 25 cm. However, the sizers used to verify maximum hand luggage dimensions will reportedly be measured up to 42 x 20 x 30 cm.
Two pieces of hand luggage only for the chosen ones
And that is all, folks. You cannot take any additional hand luggage on board. Unless you pay a little extra. Passengers who have purchased priority boarding can take two pieces of luggage on board. The aforementioned small bag plus one larger piece with the dimensions we have been used to so far, i.e., 55 x 40 x 20 cm. However, this privilege is limited to a maximum of 95 passengers.
If you do not manage to or do not want to purchase priority boarding, do not despair. Simply add a 10 kg checked bag for a small fee (approx. 8 EUR) when booking your ticket. This way, you will avoid the 25 EUR fine that you would otherwise face for exceeding hand luggage dimensions. Even in such a case, your luggage would be checked in, but you would pay more than necessary.
Final tip: If you booked your Ryanair flight before September 1, 2018, you have the option to add a 10 kg checked bag for free.
