Is the compact Travelite Capri suitcase a more practical piece of luggage than a classic backpack or an old cardboard suitcase? Our satisfied customer's review reveals much. He shared with us how he found his way to a modern travel suitcase (and doesn't want to go back :-) ).

Back to the past

Since ancient times, ever since humans have been human, there has been a great need to change one's place of residence, i.e. to intentionally move from place to place – to travel. Because humans are also thrifty creatures who collect the goods they acquire in life, they need to move what they own with them. In the past, various bags made of animal skin or sacks woven from natural fibers served this purpose. Later, wooden crates, cabinets, and various racks were used, the transport of which required owning a carriage and some form of propulsion. The "modern" person, who has a constant need to travel or otherwise change their place of activity, also needs some luggage to transport the necessary things they need on their travels, whether they are going for a few days or several months. The size of their luggage usually depends on the duration of the trip.

My experience with suitcases of all kinds

I too have used the services of many pieces of travel luggage in my life. I started with a classic "rucksack", the predecessor of today's backpacks and hiking packs, later replaced by a "cardboard" suitcase, which was light but had to be protected from moisture (it would fall apart). This type of luggage was later replaced by a leatherette suitcase – it was not as susceptible to environmental influences and didn't mind rain, but it was a bit heavier. Subsequent suitcases were more modern, lighter, reinforced inside, covered with fabric on the outside, and even equipped with two wheels and a retractable handle. However, if the suitcase was not filled completely, usually after one plane trip (thanks to "expert" handling by ground airport staff), its internal reinforcement would be destroyed, and a new suitcase had to be bought for the next vacation. Air transport in general is not good for suitcases as such, which we can see at airports where scratches, scuffs, and other damage are the order of the day. Over time, for longer vacations, a hard-shell suitcase won, as it is quite durable and can withstand a lot. But what about shorter trips, business trips for a few days, or perhaps a several-day stay in the hospital? One doesn't need to transport an entire wardrobe, but can get by with just a few pieces of clothing and a few personal items.

For such situations, it pays to get a small suitcase that can be used as carry-on luggage for the most essential things that everyone wants to keep under control close to them.

The hunt for a travel suitcase

I did not avoid the need to satisfy this requirement either. When I started looking for a suitcase with a volume of around 40 liters in stores and subsequently on the net, I was surprised by the overwhelming amount of assortment offered in this category. Another specification I set was only two wheels, integrated into the body of the suitcase. The possibility of increasing the volume (expander), lots of pockets inside and out, and most importantly, only a top-opening section. I didn't want the split opening typical of hard-shell suitcases. I find it impractical because it requires a lot of space or you have to open the suitcase on the floor. Well, I found perhaps 20 different types from all sorts of manufacturers, and that was excluding those from Asian markets, which I don't trust much. How to get out of this situation, who will advise me? On the internet, I came across "Bagalio.cz"; this company seemed sympathetic at first glance, so I searched their site in more detail. I found what I needed, and most importantly, I read a lot of expert advice and descriptions, thanks to which I clarified everything and, as a result, I ordered what was clearly the most suitable Travelite Capri 2w S for me.

The choice was easier than I expected

It is a suitcase with a classic look; I was surprised by the very low weight (perhaps only 2 kg) and the two integrated wheels. The fabric polyester material that covers the suitcase looks very durable. It has reinforced edges and a padded handle that fits perfectly in the hand. All seams are strong and perfect, without fraying threads. The telescopic handle has three positions, so even at my height of 186 cm, I can comfortably reach the suitcase and don't have to bend down. Most importantly, it has lots of pockets on the outside, and their zippers are very durable. I was also pleasantly surprised by such a small detail as the address tag, which slides into a small pocket, so there is no risk of the name tag being torn off. A TSA lock for hassle-free airport checks is a matter of course.

Nice on the outside, practical on the inside

I am most satisfied with its interior. Not only are there several separate and sealable compartments, but there is also a great feature – a shirt compartment in the lid of the suitcase. They don't get wrinkled and are quickly at hand without having to unpack the entire contents of the suitcase. Everything inside meets my requirements, and I am extremely satisfied. As a bonus, it can be used as carry-on luggage. And what is also pleasant – it is beautifully BLUE. So far, it hasn't traveled much with me, but the Travelite Capri has already proven itself during a rehabilitation stay at a spa, and I also managed a long weekend in Plasy in the Pilsen region with it last autumn. I am already looking forward to more trips this year. I would like to thank the employees of the Bagalio e-shop for their helpful approach and especially for their expert advice, thanks to which I chose what I was truly looking for and needed. The author of the review is Mr. Jiří Oldřich Klein.
