After several years, real winter and snow have finally returned to our region. And we need to take advantage of it! It is the perfect opportunity to head to the mountains during a weekend getaway or spring break and enjoy the snow while it lasts. Once again, we have prepared tips on how to pack as efficiently as possible so that you have everything you need without having to carry too much.
We probably don't need to remind you that you should take skis (or a snowboard) and warm clothing on a winter vacation. You would realize something was missing on the way there if your gear stayed carefully packed at home in the basement. ;-)

Let's get straight to the items that are definitely worth remembering. Whether you are heading to larger resorts with dozens of kilometers of slopes or just to higher-altitude spots in the countryside, it is always good to have some essentials with you right on the slope. To store them, you can use one of our ski backpacks, where you can store spare gloves, a basic first aid kit, or perhaps sunglasses that fit perfectly into the special padded pockets that some of these backpacks are equipped with. It is always good to have some fluids and a small snack in the form of a compact but nutritious nut and dried fruit bar in reserve.
Basic equipment
It is statistically proven that the sun will rise... no, that's a different story. In any case, there is one thing that people demonstrably often forget. And that is gloves. Can you imagine going to the slope without them? You would have to wait somewhere warm by the fireplace with something good to warm you up the whole time! Then again, looking back, that doesn't sound bad at all. Some people might actually forget them on purpose for that reason. But you should rather pack two pairs so you can fully and comfortably enjoy why you originally went to the mountains.
In addition to gloves, also pack a hat and, for your safety, preferably a ski helmet. If you are sensitive around the neck and chin area, don't forget a scarf that is pleasant to the touch or a sports neck gaiter or balaclava, which will make you feel cozy.
Well-fitting ski pants and a winter jacket are a matter of course. But it is much more important to think about what you wear underneath them. Unless you are going to conquer the Himalayas, a snug thermal base layer and a middle insulating layer in the form of a fleece turtleneck or sweatshirt will suffice. It is important that the clothing is functional, retains body heat, and is wind-resistant. Don't forget quality ski socks either. Even in robust ski boots, many people's feet get cold, which is usually caused by a poor-quality thermal layer underneath.

Travel gadgets
At this stage, we will assume that you already have your skis, poles, boots, helmet, and ski goggles ready. Besides that, we definitely recommend packing sunscreen with a higher UV factor, sunglasses, and lip balm in your backpack. The sun in the mountains is quite treacherous – it likes to reflect off the snow and really takes a toll on the skin. A headlamp can also come in handy, as an external light source is always useful, especially if you are planning to go off-piste.
Tip!: Have you already tried ski touring or freeride skiing?
If you are heading more to the slopes in civilization, pack a swimsuit as well. You might think we've gone completely crazy, but every larger resort now has a pool or hot tubs available. And what could be better than working your body on the slope during the day and relaxing in warm water in the evening?
Now you have all the essentials and can boldly set out to conquer the mountain peaks. But we have one final piece of golden advice for you – sometimes it is good to follow the motto: "What I don't have, I don't need!" You can always simply buy that forgotten toothbrush on the way, and the world certainly won't end because of it. So don't spoil your vacation. :-)
What can't you do without in the mountains? And where do you go most often?
