There are three of them, they are twenty years old, and they are heading north. Almost as far as it is possible to go. Thousands of kilometers await them in the land of reindeer, fjords, and annoying mosquitoes, with nothing but backpacks on their backs and a thirst for adventure.
When they returned from their hike to Venice two years ago, they didn't want to see a backpack or hiking boots ever again. However, it didn't last long, and once their blisters finally healed, they started planning another trip. Two and a half thousand kilometers. Two and a half months. Two and a half students – Prague coffee-house regular Dominik, slacker from Mácháč Jirka, and the Jizera Mountains hiking machine Mára. Just a bunch of crazy guys, exactly the way we like it.
Deciding whether or not to support them on their adventurous journey was not difficult for us. We equipped them with backpacks (what else), bottles, first-aid kits, and also our seasoned mascot Bungee. We also properly interviewed the guys to find out what they have planned and what we can look forward to.
What do you expect from the trip?
Especially a plethora of interesting experiences for long winter evenings. You often hear that people go on long hikes to take stock of their lives, decide what to do next, and so on. We are not going to Norway with such expectations.
Why Norway specifically? And what is your plan?
We don't even know ourselves. During the trip to Venice, it was suggested that we could reach the northernmost point of Europe. And voilà, the plan was born. Lindesnes - Nordkapp. Two and a half thousand kilometers on foot across all of Norway.
What are you most afraid of so far?
Mosquitoes and all the insects that exist in unlimited quantities in Norway.
What are you looking forward to, and what can our mascot Bungee expect?
Norwegian clichés and a landscape where reindeer say goodnight.
Have you done any similar trips before?
Dominik and Jirka walked from Prague to Venice a few years back, which is roughly half the distance. So we have a lot of experience, but Norway will probably still surprise us.
Do you have any specific places or interesting locations you definitely want to see?
Nordkapp. Otherwise, nothing at all. We are not going for the sights, and we are not looking for the most famous scenery; that would take us a year. Norway itself will show what it's made of during the journey.
