Summer is almost over, but the best time for sightseeing tours and eurotrips is just beginning. If you are planning to head to foreign cities by bus and at the same time do not want to scare your fellow passengers, and want to feel good yourself, the following tips will come in handy!
Be careful with fragrances and makeup
Just like in the previous parts of this series, I won't please decorative cosmetics enthusiasts too much. Traveling simply requires simplicity and functionality. Even out your skin with a moisturizing tinted cream, highlight your eyes with a reliable waterproof mascara (or a subtle eyeliner), and simply swipe your lips with a softening balm. In your toiletry bag, have refreshing essentials ready (micellar water in a spray, wet wipes, cooling eye gel, or a nourishing hand cream) and perform a quick but effective maintenance during breaks.
Leave your hair loose or tie it into a ponytail or bun. However, it should not be too tight (risking an unpleasant headache) nor get in your way when leaning against the seat. Keep a comb and a travel-size dry shampoo spray handy just in case.

Rather than on your face, focus on your body. Now, gentlemen should also pay attention! To feel good and not bother those around you, use a proven antiperspirant before the trip. Save strong perfumes for another time. Also, choose clothing and shoes that prevent excessive sweating or overheating – so it is better to avoid synthetic materials.
Last but not least, we have oral hygiene – for really long trips, keep a toothbrush and travel-size toothpaste handy. Nothing replaces the feeling of freshly brushed teeth. For shorter trips, use mouthwash, mints, or chewing gum.

Also, for the suitcase or bag stored in the bus luggage compartment, opt for basic cosmetic products in smaller packaging; they will be more than enough for those few days. You can also rely on various samples or simply decant your favorites – a set of travel bottles is perfect for these purposes.
Other tips for your comfort:
- cooling leg gel
- pillow and blanket
- eye mask and earplugs
A good feeling starts from within
Food and fluids will also greatly benefit your well-being and appearance. The foundation is sufficient minerals and essential hydration. So, forget about all caffeinated drinks. They are diuretic, and besides drying out your skin unnecessarily and reducing its radiance, a constantly full bladder is not exactly what you want when traveling by bus. It is better to opt for still mineral water.
Plain water is also sufficient, and you can add a drop of lemon to it. Definitely take your favorite bottle with you. You will avoid unnecessary spending at gas stations and plastic waste production. Of course, this only applies if potable and safe water is available at rest stops.
Regarding snacks, avoid overly salty and fried foods or unhealthy sweets. The ideal snack is a whole-grain sandwich (for example, with a legume spread) and fresh vegetables. Replenish necessary energy with fruit (whether fresh or dried), nuts, or raw bars made from natural ingredients, which will also satisfy your sweet tooth.

Also, pay attention to your posture. Do not sit the whole trip twisted, hunched over, or with your legs crossed – you would prevent free blood flow and set yourself up for unpleasant swelling or painful muscle and joint blockages. At every stop, at least stretch or walk around briefly.
And a final tip: Before the trip, carefully check that you have all the necessary documents and store them, for example, in a practical case. Complications resulting from forgetting them would certainly add more than one wrinkle to your forehead.
What are the must-haves for you on long bus trips?
