In May, we became a sponsor of the Facebook competition Czechoslovak Jewelry Challenge. This competition is very popular, now in its second year, and has over 1400 members. Creators from all corners of the Czech and Slovak Republics make a piece of jewelry on a given theme every month, photograph it, and post it on the competition page. At the end of each month, sponsors select the jewelry that appeals to them the most, and those are awarded.

The diverse garden of the world

The May theme was inspired by nature and its diversity. The motto "Garden of the World" had a truly wide scope, allowing creators to choose from a wide palette of colors and shapes that nature offers. The competition jewelry was truly diverse, but the depiction of flowers in all possible forms and color combinations prevailed, from roses and poppies to cacti. A few contestants also ventured into the world of animals and insects.

The winner took home an eco-bag

When choosing our winner, we had several favorites. Among them were pieces that were eventually appreciated by other sponsors as well. For us, the top product was a beaded necklace in green shades with the poetic name Sundew. The author of the jewelry is Markéta Herzová, who specializes in creating beaded and soutache jewelry. She strives to meet the needs of her customers while maintaining the first-class quality of her products. This is evident in the winning necklace.

As a prize, Markéta received a BG Berlin eco-bag from us, which also relates to the nature theme as it protects the environment. She chose the Paris design, which was created under the direction of artist Ann.

The second winner was Dáša Kakáčová with her imaginative, though very impractical for everyday wear, ring titled After the Rain. Recently, Dáša has started creating unconventional rings of giant proportions. She puts wit, an original idea, and precise craftsmanship into them.

The third contestant who deserved an award was Martina Ratajová with her Garden. This tinned jewelry with the motif of an old garden gate also caught our attention during the selection process and was the second hot candidate for victory.

This year, we will have the honor of selecting the best from the competition jewelry two more times. The competition is still open to new participants, so you are welcome to join in as well. Neither the material nor the processing technique is decisive. It only requires a creative approach to the theme and high-quality workmanship.
